Therapy Services

Richard Lill L.C.S.W provides a combination approach to therapy, using evidence-based approaches, tailored to the specific needs of the client. Types of therapy provided include, but are not limited to:

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG (electroencephalogram)biofeedback, is a therapeutic intervention that provides immediate feedback from a computer-based program that assesses a client’s brainwave activity. The program then uses sound or visual signals to reorganize or retrain these brain signals. By responding to this process, clients learn to regulate and improve their brain function and to alleviate symptoms of various neurological and mental health disorders

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy [EMDR] is based on the idea that negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours are the result of unprocessed memories.  EMDR uses bilateral sensory input to help access and reprocess information. EMDR is designed to reduce trauma-specific concerns, as well as moderate to severe internalizing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions.

CBT is designed to reduce maladaptive thought processes and cognitive distortions, and help develop skills and knowledge, to reduce behavioral, emotional, and social limitations.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a form of therapy in which the client is treated on a one-on-one basis with a therapist. The most popular form of therapy, individual therapy may encompass many different treatment styles includingpsychoanalysis Individual therapy allows the therapist and client to focus on each other, building a rapport and working together to solve the client's issue.

Couples Therapy

Couples Therapy or Marriage Counseling can help couples in all types of intimate relationships — regardless of sexual orientation or marriage status. Some couples seek  counseling to strengthen their partnership and gain a better understanding of each other.  Counseling can also help couples who plan to get married. Premarital counseling can help couples achieve a deeper understanding of each other and iron out differences before marriage.

Family Therapy

Family therapy can help you improve troubled relationships with your partner, children or other family members. You may address specific issues such as marital or financial problems, conflict between parents and children, or the impact of substance abuse or a mental illness on the entire family. Your family may pursue family therapy along with other types of mental health treatment, especially if one of you has a mental illness or addiction that also requires additional therapy or rehabilitation treatment.
